PONY RIDESIs there an age or weight limit for the pony rides?Our ponies and saddles are intended for children up to 8 years old and/or up to 80lbs. We intentionally use smaller ponies, fitted with small saddles to cater to our little clients' needs. This creates a safer and less intimidating experience for young and/or timid riders. If you have older children, we can work something out with larger ponies/horses. How many kids can attend the party and still get in enough riding? It depends on how many boys vs. girls. Boys generally ride once or twice and then move on to other things. Girls typically stand in line waiting for their next turn. 6 girls to 1 pony, and/or 12 boys to 1 pony is a good rule. How do you keep the pony riders safe?Vail Stables is deeply committed to safety. Each pony is hand-led by and experienced handler. We walk next to each child. and with small or timid children, we hold onto the back of the saddle for their safety and comfort. We also provide each child with an ASTM/SEI certified safety helmet when riding our ponies. Each helmet is adjusted to fit snugly and disinfected before every event. Most importantly, our ponies are calm, even tempered and friendly. |
PETTING ZOOWhat types of animals are included with the zoo?We typically have a variety of kittens, goats, rabbits, chickens, a rooster and a goose. We can also bring out the donkey upon request. Do you provide hand sanitizer?Yes; a hand washing station will be provided with appropriate disinfecting solutions available. As a condition of our insurance, children must wash their hands both before and after interacting with our animals. Are you licensed?Yes; we are licensed by the USDA under the Animal Welfare Act. This license is required for all petting zoos. Our property, enclosures and vet records are randomly inspected by a licensing official annualy. We can provide proof of licensing upon request. For the sake of the animals, please ask to see this license when comparing companies.

General QuestionsWhat makes your company different from other pony ride and petting zoo companies?We are licensed by the USDA. But most importantly, we love our animals and it shows! We do not breed them for resale. Each animal that we adopt/purchase is here to stay and given the highest quality food and regular vet care. We receive many compliments on how much calmer, friendlier and interactive our animals are than other zoos our guests have been to. What is your policy if it rains?We will gladly work with you up until the morning of your event to determine if we need to cancel due to poor weather. Pony rides can be led in the parking area where there is less mud, if it is raining. Are your animals healthy and clean?Absolutely! They are all vaccinated and dewormed as per our vet's recommendations and guidelines. For their health and comfort, they are groomed, trimmed and bathed regularly. Are you insured?Yes; we have a $2 million liability policy. We can provide proof of such upon request. |
