Cancellation & Refund Policy Summary

Effective date: June 12, 2025

This policy explains how cancellations, refunds, and weather-related reschedules work for experiences booked with Vail Stables.

Scheduled ride time and check-in time

Your scheduled ride time is your check-in time.

Cancellation deadlines (full refund)

To receive a full refund, you must cancel by the deadlines below before your scheduled ride time:

    1. Standard rides: at least 48 hours and 5 minutes in advance

    1. Private rides: at least 7 days in advance

    1. Groups (1020 riders): at least 30 days in advance

    1. Groups (21+ riders): at least 60 days in advance

Weather policy (delays and reschedules)

Rides run in most weather.

If weather requires a delay:

    • We may delay up to 90 minutes to allow conditions time to improve.

    • If we still cant ride after the delay, well reschedule your ride for the next available time that works with our schedule.

    • If we need to reschedule due to weather, well take care of moving your booking to a new date/time; refunds arent offered for weather-related reschedules.

Policy updates

We may update this policy from time to time. The Effective dateabove reflects the most recent update.

The fine print and full Cancellation Policy

– RIDICULOUSLY, INSANELY, NECESSARY, STRICT 48 HOUR and 5 MINUTE CANCELLATION POLICY. NO Exceptions whatsoever. Please don’t call to debate this as it will not change or bend for any reason. You are not more special than everyone else.  The guests who follow the rules know, with confidence, they aren’t subsidizing the guests who don’t.

The moment you book, the chessboard changes. We begin rearranging horses, guides, departure times, staffing, and future availability around your reservation. That’s why last-minute cancellations and reschedules affect far more than one horse.

Tomorrow belongs to tomorrow’s guests.

We don’t reschedule within 48 hours and 5 minutes.

We are genuinely sorry that we must have a strict cancellation or rescheduling policy. We realize that this policy may come as a real disappointment and shock to your normally catered-to self. We hope that you understand that the policy reflects an extraordinary range of determining factors. It is painful that we must upset any of our superb guests. If you must pay the full cancellation fee plus auto gratuity for the guide, it is our hope that your overall vacation delight will soon erase any disappointment regarding our cancellation policy, and that you will go on to create a beautiful vacation slideshow.

Please do not book a ride on your travel day. Travel dilemmas are not an exception to the cancellation policy.

A full 48 hours and 5 minutes notice required to cancel, reschedule, change, alter, subtract people, change your mind, fall very ill, altitude sickness, aggravate an old injury, appendicitis, hungover, new injuries, hurt your back, stub your toe, eat too much, develop bad gas, your private jet was delayed, you feel the forest is too organic, your alarm didn’t go off, you believe the hay the horses eat isn’t gluten-free, you are a super important business man that can’t get off a call, you booked your three or four year-old as a five-year-old,  find something better to do, believe your weather app is reality, have a brooding teenager, daddy went to town on mommy, you booked your five or six year-old as a seven-year-old, medical emergency, surgery, double-book yourself, have your plane delayed or cancelled, someone has a migraine, your son is throwing up all night from dehydration, complain about the weather, get into a wreck, family emergency or ANY, ANY, ANY other reason to avoid a cancellation fee equaling the entire ride price. Calling with an exceptional story does not create an exception. If you are obnoxious about this policy, we have an obnoxious horse for you. By booking any activity, you are agreeing to this policy. You understand that your story will not be the exception to the rule. The threat of bad reviews doesn’t change this. People enjoy reading those when they understand that this policy is crystal clear.

Groups of 12 or more, private rides, and private GOGA sessions are required to give 30 days notice of cancellation for a full refund. Private Events in the G.O.A.T. Happy Hour area and groups of 18 or more on horseback rides are required to give 60 days notice of cancellation for a full refund.

You are guaranteeing your arrival, and usage of the horse blocked out of the schedule, with your credit card. Calling to bluster and spout and threaten will not change this strict policy even if you “just called 30 minutes ago” or “just booked yesterday”. It’s highly probable someone wanted the saddles and we had to turn them away. They lost out because of Y-O-U.

Customers will receive a full refund if one of the following 2 conditions exists.

-A full 48 hours and 5 minutes notice of cancellation. (or 30 Day or 60 day – depending on the type of booking)

-In case of outrageous weather or other unforeseen circumstances (like wildfires so close the horses’ tails are smoking, or a wild herd of buffalo sitting on the trail), the operator may cancel the ride. In all other situations, we do ride rain or shine. Sometimes we will delay the ride by 60-90 minutes for the weather to move by.  Your fear and anger will not change this.  Your threats of bad reviews will not change this.  Your lectures on customer service and accommodating people will not change this. Your threats of disputing credit card charges will not change this.  Credit card companies understand that you blocked other people, who don’t throw hissy fits, from your time slot and will support us. You are an adult who made this choice and agreed to the terms and conditions even if your friend created the booking. Your big, bullying, body language, threats, and curse words, while towering over the 5’2″ bartender will not change this.  She will kick your **s if you push too far.

Contact us by phone at (855) RIDE-VAIL (743-3824) to cancel so everyone doesn’t wait for you. No-shows and late cancellations will be charged the full price for horses or yoga mats removed from the schedule. The rules apply to you – no matter who you are, but if you feel they don’t apply to you, we charge double.

And, you wouldn’t want to miss out on the greatest adventures offered in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
